MMMbop - hanson
- it's just a classic fun song. even if this mix cd is supposed to define our present content-ness, you can't really do that with out some really good oldies.

4. feel good inc - gorillaz
- ANOTHER amazing, upbeat song. probably one of the most random songs on this list, but that's exactly why it's so great. i could see bee and i just blasting this through her speakers on some random streets, bobbing our head. and any song like that definitely deserves a place on this list.

5. float on - modest mouse
- i'm pretty sure this is already on another playlist, but who really cares. it's probably one of my all-time favorite songs- that you can listen to when you're in a great mood and just want to boost that, or when you're in a horrible mood and just need something to help you get along. i think i want to play this song at my wedding.

6. war - edwin starr
- countless good times with this song. singing along to the beginning of the song and trying to sound like a man has got to be one of the most satisfying things to do. the lyrics are definitely pretty beasting, too.

7. here comes the sun - the beatles
- this another song that can cheer you up or just be a really amazing start to the day. it's perfect during random picnics on unusually warm days, too. it's pretty much impossible to not smile while listening to it, and having a song like that is definitely a necessity.

8. anyone else but you - the moldy peaches
- again, i did originally hear this song from the movie Juno, but it's a great movie so who really cares. this song reminds me of band practices with louise and just feeling like you're part of something. the voices are so understated too which makes it great to sing along with.

9. thriller - michael jackson
- why would we NOT have thriller on a magical cd?

10. banana pancakes - jack johnson
- for one, i am going to marry jack johnson. secondly, this is another song that you just connote with good times. namely making pancakes at sally's and swaying with the sun in your face, just being happy and content.

11. fluorescent adolescent - arctic monkeys
- another great, upbeat song, that just makes you feel young and ready for anything. plus, i don't think that we could have a magic mix with out at least one british band besides the beatles.

12. i'll make a man out of you - from mulan(the movie!)
- I ADORE THIS SONG. if you don't love it too you suck. it. is. BEAST.
that is all. :D

13. yell fire - michael franti and spearhead
- i think that this was also on another playlist, but oh well. this is one of those songs that you just randomly start singing, and feel extreme urges to hear at least once a week. it has a good meaning, too.

14. all the old showstoppers - the new pornographers
- when bee and i were sitting on the curb blasting music in fells point, this song came on and i could have sworn that we were in a movie. it's another one of my all time favorites, by one of the best bands out there. it just somehow makes you feel ready for anything.

15. the way i am - ingrid michaelson
- yes, this is the sweater song from that old navy commercial. but it's still great, and is something we all sing along even when we're not at her concert. definitely a lot of good times with this song.

16. love today - mika
- ANOTHER amazing song to listen to in the morning when you're getting ready for the day. it almost ensures that the day is going to be good. there's no one else out there like mika, either. the feeling this song gives you really just can't be described.

17. juliet - LMNT
- one of the first songs that we were all obsessed with in the beginning of the year. it's definitely not the best song out there, but the kind of memories attached to it(specifically singing it at the top of our lungs at louise's) are priceless.

18. with a little help from my friends - from the "across the universe" soundtrack
- this is basically the five of us in a nutshell. except minus the drugs and drinking, because we're honest to god naturally like that(it's almost scary). this is a song any really tight group of friends can relate to. the movie version is a little faster than the original(and joe crocker's cover. which is actually my favorite) which is good, and another great song to sing along with.

19. celebrate the summer - dj cammy
- HA! best ever. this is the number one song we listen to during our spur of the moment techno dance parties. and considering how much all of us want summer (which is a fucking LOT, mind you), this song just had to have a place on the cd.

20. my dick - mickey avalon
- i don't think this cd would be complete with out at least one rap song. so, of course, i decided to go with the dick song.

21. new soul - yael naim
- it's a good song to end with, because all of us have definitely encountered (and more than made the best of) new situations this year. we've all kind of melded into each other, and this song is a start to showing that.

february 29th.

happy leap day!
heres theee february playlist
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. last stop: this town - eels
i've been listening to the eels a bit obsessively lately. they have such a wide array of stuff, from super-catchy beats to slow and beautiful (though depressing) songs. another thing i love about this band, is how mr. e writes about such terrible, depressing thoughts and pairs them with cheerful, upbeat music. im in love with all the songs by eels, but this one has been in my head especially lately.
listen to it.

2. baby, you're a rich man - the beatles
from "magical mystery tour" this is one of the most under-appreciated beatles songs. the music sends me back to my third grade days. jumping up and down on my bed singing the nonsense lyrics while the cd spun in my hello kitty boombox. not much has changed, i would say. :D
listen via youtube.

3. moonage daydream - david bowie
DAVID BOWIE. oh, david bowie. probably/definitely one of the coolest people alive. this is my mom's favorite song. i suppose it's genetic. just listen to it, listen to the lyrics. plus, it was the first song the white stripes recorded. this song is a godly.
musical orgasm right hurr.

quatro!. son of sam - elliott smith
this one will be on repeat for a few days. its one of those "theres something about it songs".
listennnnnn.

5. black beatles - loo & placido
i have a thing for mash-ups. this one is a mix of girl (the beatles), run for your life (the beatles), lets get it started (black eyed peas), caught out there(kelis), and some song by ludacris. it's realllly well-done and really catchy.
LISTEN.

6. israelites - desmond decker
desmond decker was just one of those outstandingly cool people who changed history. he's the kind of person you would choose to write a paper on for school and actually enjoy it. it made some pretty kickass music too.

7. 19 20 20 - the grates
this is one of those jump-up-and-down-shake-your-hair-songs. sounds kinda like the yeah yeah yeahs.
listen!

8. trains to brazil - guillemots
this was my first free itunes download of the week, a few years back. ever since then, its been on my top 25 most played.
listen.

9. maria - blondie
one of the best blondie songs in my opinion.
and your heart beats like a subway train.

10. brimful of asha- cornershop
so i found cornershop's "when i was born for the 7th time" (just in time for my recent obsession with indian culture and religion) hidden under some junk. and i've been listening to it consistently since then. its SO GOOD. this is the obvious pick off the album, since its the hit, but it really is a good song.

on the 45. bloc party
so bloc party has to be one of my favorite bands. you can almost always tell when a song is theirs just by the tempo and voice, but this song in particular has been cramming my ears this past month. the lyrics are hard to hear the first time around, but it'll grow on you. promise.
listen

2. overboard - ingrid michaelson
it's pretty obvious why ingrid has been stuck in my head, but her music is amazing any month. her lyrics are catchy but still manage to make sense. during the concert, she said that she got the idea for this song when she was in maine with a friend, canoing. her friend was going on about this fantasy of falling out of a boat, then a hunky-maine-man coming out of no where to save her. then is was just SHAZAM; lyrics.
watch (except i just want you to listen)

3. no other way - jack johnson
i know some people don't like jack johnson, but this has to be one of my favorite songs of at least the past four months. it's insanely calming, and you can interpret the lyrics in so many different ways. it's one of jack's slower songs, but i'm completely and utterly in love with it.
watch
there's the recorded version on his myspace, too.

4. loose lips - kimya dawson
i admit that i've only heard of kimya because of Juno(which is an amazing movie, if you haven't already seen it) but she's still supa fly. i wanted to go to a concert of her's a couple weeks ago, but missed it. apparently, she gave everyone hugs instead of signing autographs. jealousy.
listen

5. third planet - modest mouse
modest mouse has got to be one of my favorite bands of all time, but this song in particular has caught my attention this past month. i'm honestly not that sure why, but the jist is that you should listen to it.
listen

6. oh my - office
this is the only song i know by office, but it's completely addicting. something about the beat and instruments is just irresistible. the lyrics are a little odd, but check the song out anyways.
listen

7. reckoner - radiohead
radiohead may be an acquired taste for some people, but i adore them. this is another song that i can just listen to over and over again. it's hypnotizing almost, but in a good way. it's calming but doesn't delude you, if that makes any sense.
listen

8. don't panic - coldplay
there's just something about this song that just fits winter. i'm steadily getting worse at these descriptions i think. but anyways, it's just a really easy song to listen to, whether you're tired or not.
listen

9. i will survive - gloria gaynor
i don't know when this will not be a song of the month.
watch

10. 2000007 (feat. TTC) - modeselektor
i don't even know what's being said in this song, it's french, but mad addicting. french techno/rap. you can't really beat that.
watch (just listen though)

that is all.
:D

with friday night julia and i went to see the oranges band and the fiery furnaces at the ottobar. the oranges were reallly good. the other bands were kinda bland, matching with the unenthusiastic audience. but, julia and i are like freaking rays of sunshine, so it was fun. :D

i want to say more about the show, but it was kinda boring. heres a video my dad took so you can see for type='text'>december music, babayyy.

aightchyo.
BEE IS IN DAH HOUSEEE.

i haven't really been writing on this blog all too much. but, im sure you were entertained by jahooliaa and all her amazing wonderness. but anyway...

okay, music time. here is the wonderous music i have been listening to most in the month of december. mp3s will come soon.

1. i will survive - cake.
i have a thing for good covers. like covers that actually make a sort of stupid song good. ones that change the song, but still leave it as the song. if that makes any sense. if it doesn't listen to the song. if it does, still listen to it.

2. the world was a mess, but his hair was perfect - the rakes.
british indie rock band. im kind of obsessed with anything british, especially indie rock bands. but then again, who isnt?

3. american ruse - mc5
i've been listening to motor city five a lot lately. some songs are a little hard for my taste (admittedly, i traditionally listen to more poppy music) , but they're an early punk band ERGO they're pretty amazing.

4. sing me spanish techno - the new porographers.
okay, so basically words can't even say how much i am obsessed with the new pornographers right now. they're songs are just poppy enough to be catchy and make you want to dance, but still quirky enough to be actually interesting. plus, the lyrics are incredible and absurd. love.

5. here i am (come and take me) - al green.
soul/motown music is a reason to live.

6. yellow - coldplay.
i never really liked coldplay all too much. they always seemed a bit boring to me. but, listening to them, although many of their songs sound exactly alike to me, and they get boring if you listen to it for a long duration of time, they're pretty good. this song is great. plus, its lyircs are incredibly sweet, and you know you love love songs.

7. anyone else but you - the moldy peaches.
see juno. now. i love quirky people. and quirky bands. and quirky movies. even the work quirky. this song is super-quirky. see the movie. why? "this aint no etch-a-sketch. this is one doodle that can't be undid , homeskillet."< that said by rainn wilson (dwight schrute from the office). first reason why this movie is amazing. second reason, this song. and there are about 523 more reasons.

8. yell fire! - michael franti
i usually dont even like songs like this. but, it make happy, the instruments work well, it has a good message, and its fun to sing at the top of your lungs through the hallway. :D

9. shes so cold - the rolling stones.
okay, i don't even have to explain this one.

10. happiness is a warm gun - the beatles.
let me just tell you that i am one of those beatles fanatics. yeah, obessed might be an understatement. so, of course i've been listening to the beatles a lot lately because i've been listening to the beatles a lot lately since i was in first grade. but, i've been listening to the white album A LOT lately. and its reallllly good. this song isn't exactly the best on the white album, in my opinion. but its good. and it was in across the universe. and don't even tell me you haven't seen that.

peace yo'.
-bee. (the fantastic one)
:D

fish eye

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
